Hey everyone,
I just wanted to give you all a quick update on my writing schedule. Things have been crazy around here lately, and my writing (and my writing time) have taken a big hit.
The biggest hurdle lately has been travel. Every once in a while I get tagged as a customer rep for my company, and that means I have to go on the road helping them install our software, work through some bugs, collect feedback, and so on. I was on travel all last week, so I basically had no time to myself … I didn’t even get to watch TVD live, which pushed back the recap by at least a day, which pushed back the TSC recap by a day … and so on.
Last night, NewCorgi (whose name for the moment is Neville Shortbottom, but that’s subject to change at a moment’s notice) found a chocolate candy bar I had left on my desk. Since chocolate is about as good for dogs as arsenic is for us, we kind of freaked out. The emergency vet told us to give him some hydrogen peroxide to make him throw up, then watch him over night. The good news is that Neville is feeling fine (he murdered a box of cat food over night), but I wasn’t in much of a mood to write after all that happened.
So, the TVD recap will be up some time after work tonight. The TSC recap should be up tomorrow.
I also plan to get back to This Week on the Web and Sire Book Club, now that I will actually have some free time at night. Scion, the sequel to Sire, is still in progress, but I underestimated how much effort the TVD and TSC recaps were going to be, so it might not be finished as quickly as I want. I’ll let you know when you can expect it as soon as I know myself.

Hey Thomas and The Lady,
Glad NewCorgi is OK!
Hope this day goes more smoothly.
Oh jeez. :/ I’m relieved that Neville is all right. Dogs and chocolate do NOT mix, poor thing.
– Ellie.
You didn’t post the recap roundups for last episode. :(
But this episode kicked ass!
Dude. Life happens. Oh well.
Maybe the rest of us will actually get something productive done in the meantime. LOL.
Glad the pup is OK. Didn’t Neville cede Poland to the Germans? Your guy doesn’t sound like an appeaser. I still like Roderick as a proper name for a sturdy Welshman. Plus there’d be an infinite number of opportunities to make dick jokes at his expense. Dogs LOVE being the butt of dick jokes.
Dear Brian,
Our esteemed little dog is named after Neville Longbottom, slayer of Nagini, the sixth horcrux.
The name Roderick Buckingham was briefly considered. I can’t remember why that one didn’t make it into the finals.
-Lady
Lady of the Manor, you are officially my favorite person due to that response to ‘Brian.’
Poor little Corgi!! I’m glad he’s ok. I’ve had scares like that with both dogs I’ve owned and they bounce back so quick, they almost make you feel stupid for being so freaked out. Sometimes I think they secretly laugh at us. Anyway, that is a horrible situation and I don’t blame you for not feeling up to writing. I’m glad you have some downtime this week. At least when you are behind on episodes, once you watch it, it’s not very long until you get to watch the next one… I know, it’s far-fetched rationale, but it works for me.
I can’t wait to hear your thoughts on the newest TVD!
Umm…you have a life outside TVD? How odd
Neville Shortbottom. Genius name. Hopefully, he won’t have to slay any mystical snakes any time soon to save you guys lives. Sorry to hear about the chocolate incident but at least you caught it in time.
Can understand crazy weeks. Mine was last week, too. Don’t blame you for not being up to blogging /writing/ snarking.
I have been checking here for TVD recap since Friday. When nothing went up, I initially got irritated. How dare he not spend lots of time writing for my amusement?! Then I thought that maybe, just maybe, you might have life demands outside of TVD recaps. But when Monday arrived and still no recap, I actually got concerned for your well being. What if another corgipire attacked and you were in the hospital? What if something serious had happened to you and you [gasp] could no longer write our reca
…recaps! It made me realize how much I take things for granted.
Seriously, though, I did actually worry that something was wrong. Glad you (and the corgi) are ok. And I do appreciate your recaps and the time you spend on them! (so please keep writing). :-)
OMG NewCorgi, but I do understand him if he’s a chocolate addict, like me ;) – I’m glad he’s ok now!!! Looking forward to your TVD recap later – I loved this episode!
Hi everyone,
Thanks for being understanding. I fell into a bit of a manic episode after getting back from my trip, and have been working ten- or eleven- hour days since I got back, just cranking out the work.
I’ve gotten a lot done at my job, but that hasn’t left me any time or energy for the blog or my writing. I’m taking Friday off, though, and hope to be back on schedule next week.
Hi Thomas,
And first of all Happy New Year. Thank you for keeping us posted about your writing schedule. You’re only human and we all understand that. Keep up the good work!
And to crack you up during the the hell-atus ( I didn’t know where to post it, this is a geek joke), have a look at that: http://james-iry.blogspot.com/2009/05/brief-incomplete-and-mostly-wrong.html
Hi Sara :-)
That’s pretty fantastic, thanks!
